I'M GOING BACK TO BOWMAN

I'm going back to Bowman
to see some friends of mine.
I wonder if they’ve changed like me,
with the passages of time?

It’s been a long, long time
since I’ve seen the girls and guys,

I want to see them one more time,
to say Hi and Good Bye.

I remember all the football games
and other competitions,

That all happened years ago
when we all sought recognition.

But now the race is over.
There’s nothing left to win.

There’s not much left for us to do
but remember where we’ve been.

Life has been a highway
with lots of twists and bends,

With some of us not knowing
where the journey ends.

Some have made their fortunes,
while others shared their wealth.

Today, success for most of us
is just to have good health.

For sure there will be stories
for all of us to hear,

And now because we’re older,
there’ll be nothing left to fear.

So come and share the good times,
and let’s forget the bad,

If you’ve decided not to come,
there are some that will be sad.

If it sounds like I lament
for my days of teenage youth,

I’ll tell you this, that nothing
could be further from the truth.

For you see, when I go back to Bowman,
the thing that’s really neat,

Is that I will have some new friends
with a second chance to meet.

We can’t turn back the clock,
but I know that you and I

Can talk about the good times
we shared at Bowman high.

The hallways now are empty,
you won’t hear any noise,

We’re all little older,
not teenage girls and boys.

BUT, if you’ve decided not to come
and send us your regrets,

We’ll all be thinking of you
and wish you all the best.

I’m going back to Bowman,
I hope I’ll see you there.

And if you’re among the missing,
I, for one, will care.
